Pride
In the early 1990s, “Disability Pride” was a brand-new idea. It was inspired by Gay Pride parades that began decades earlier. Many disabled people have spent their lives dealing with pity, bullying, or negative comments from non-disabled people. The march was a place to finally feel proud of their bodies, abilities, and identities.
